Dance for Joy
While sculpting Dance for Joy, I endeavored to render the spiral lines of the female figure as she arches and twists her body in an expression of playful delight. I chose to create a sense of weight on her left leg contrasted with the relaxed ease of her right leg to give the appearance of her being "light on her feet". The turn of the figure’s upper body and head contribute to a sense of surrendering to her delight in the moment. Although her overall posture is one of being off balance and lends to the sense of this moment being fleeting, she has an unswerving commitment to fully experiencing her joy.
